Contrary to your report ('Prince 'meddled to aid orchestra' ', 6 September), the London Philharmonic's residency at the Festival Hall 'has not ended up as something of a hotchpotch', with the only privilege being 'just a handful more dates than the Philharmonia'.
Apart from the fact that it hasn't even started yet, the London Philharmonic has 24 more concerts than the Philharmonia this season, and enjoys first choice of repertoire and dates. It is the only orchestra to have all its rehearsals guaranteed in the hall, and the only one with whom we have a consistent collaboration, which includes artistic programming, planning, education and marketing.
