IT CANNOT but be deplored that your science correspondent cannot tell Latin from Greek ('Riddle of the sands unmasked', 27 September). The name of the creature 'Climactichnites' is clearly derived from the words klimakter (rung of a ladder) and ichnos (trace, print).
