YES of course Geoffrey Wheatcroft should feel ashamed ('Oh, the hum of the bees and the whir of the modem', 4 September). It is because he and his well-paid friends have been moving in droves to the countryside that house prices are beyond the reach of young couples born and reared outside the cities which are now being deserted by the middle classes.
