Q I saw you mention the new flights from Luton to San Sebastian. Any idea what days Air Nostrum fly? it's impossible to tell from their website.
Ken Peace, Chester
A The UK gets its first non-stop connection to the current joint European Capital of Culture on 26 July. Air Nostrum, the regional partner of Iberia, will link the Bedfordshire airport with the Basque Country’s loveliest city.
Only by trawling through the booking site, iberia.com, could I establish that they will operate only on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You have to be quick, too - flights will run only until 1 September.
Fares are very good at present, with ?111 the standard return fares on all the days I have looked at, though these lowest prices are likely to dry up soon. The fare includes a checked bag, and Air Nostrum also allows a large piece of cabin baggage.
San Sebastian airport is perched beside the river which marks the Franco-Spanish border. It is connected to the city by a number of buses, of which the E21 is the choice - it takes the autopista into the city, in less than half an hour for a fare of just €2.45.
