Tottenham transfer news: Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino determined to sign Coventry midfielder James Maddison
The club are?likely to be prepared to loan the player?back to the League One side for the duration of the season

Tottenham are preparing to make a new bid for 19-year-old Coventry midfielder James Maddison – and are determined to secure a player they missed out on last summer.
The club’s head of recruitment Paul Mitchell and scouting adviser David Pleat watched Maddison in the defeat to Burton Albion at the weekend and are likely to be prepared to loan him back to the League One side for the duration of the season.
Though Coventry are likely to accept such a deal, Spurs may face competition. It is thought that Liverpool, Everton, Manchester City, Newcastle United and Southampton are also interested.
Meanwhile, Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino insists he has heard nothing about the club ground-sharing with Chelsea at Wembley – and says the option of moving to Milton Keynes is just as attractive.
“It’s an option to play at Wembley, but I don’t hear that maybe we will share with Chelsea,” he said. “Wembley is a good option for us, but why not Milton Keynes too?”
Spurs face a third-round FA Cup replay at Leicester on Wednesday night – the two sides’ third meeting in 10 days – with Foxes manager Claudio Ranieri relishing his role as the “crazy man” who frightens the Premier League elite.
“I want to be the most crazy man and team in the Premier League,” the Italian said. “It is a crazy league because if it was a normal league Leicester would not be at the top.”
