Taking advantage of his short flight from Mar-a-Lago to New Orleans on Sunday, the president signed a proclamation celebrating the Department of the Interior officially adopting the Gulf of America as the official name.
“Even bigger than the Super Bowl,” Trump said as he signed the proclamation while Interior Secretary Doug Burgum stood next to him.
Trump will be the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl when he attends the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles at the Superdome in New Orleans.
Hours before departing for the game, Fox News aired a portion of his interview with host Bret Baier in which he predicted the Chiefs would win the Super Bowl, praised quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, for being MAGA, and reiterated his support for Elon Musk’s work to cut government costs.
While aboard Air Force One, Trump also announced there will be 25 percent tariffs on steel and aluminum coming Monday.
Who will Donald Trump be supporting at the Super Bowl?
On Sunday, Donald Trump will make history as the first sitting U.S. president to attend a Super Bowl, where he will watch the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles.
In a pre-game interview with Fox, the president said he would “hate” to choose a side and that he was looking forward to watching “a great game.” However, he did predict a winner after praising Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany.
“I hate to do it but.. I watched this great quarterback who has a phenomenal wife. She’s a MAGA fan… she’s a great person. I guess you have to say that when a quarterback wins as much as he’s won, I’d have to go with Kansas City,” he said.
President Trump reiterates desire for Canada to be 51st state
Trump reiterated his desire to make Canada the 51st state, saying the country would be ‘much better off’ doing so.
Fox News host Bret Baier asked Trump if it was “a real thing” in the president’s mind.
“Yeah, it is. I think Canada would be much better off being a 51st state,” Trump said.
The president cited the trade deficit between Canada and the U.S. as the reason.

Musk and Trump will target Department of Education next
President Trump said he would direct Elon Musk to check out the Department of Education next in his pursuit to cut government spending and the federal workforce.
In an interview with Bret Baier, part of which aired on Sunday afternoon, Trump said he would direct the head of DOGE to suggest changes to the DoE.
"I'm gonna tell him very soon, like maybe in 24 hours, to go check the Department of Education. He's gonna find the same thing,” Trump said.
President blasts judge who restricts Musk's DOGE from Treasury Department
Trump said he “100%” disagrees with the judge who has temporarily restricted Musk and his DOGE team from accessing the Treasury Department payment system.
“I disagree with her 100%. I think it’s crazy,” Trump told Fox News host Bret Baier.
Musk, a billionaire who was recently named a “special government employee,” has not gone through the traditional process to obtain the authority he has been bestowed.
Musk does not have to disclose his finances nor face congressional approval. But he has vast access and power – something Democrats, state attorney generals and lawmakers have criticized.
Kristi Noem warns the public that they can’t trust the government - then is reminded that she is part of it
Donald Trump’s new secretary of Homeland Security forgot which side she was on.
Kristi Noem was grilled Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union about Elon Musk’s role in the federal government and his access to sensitive systems at DHS housing data collected by FEMA as part of its efforts to help disaster victims. Host Dana Bash pressed the secretary about whether Americans could be comfortable with Musk, whose DOGE group was not authorized by Congress and exists as a White House initiative, potentially accessing private data Americans authorized the federal government to collect.
Noem argued that they could, because Musk had been vetted by Trump himself: “The president has authorized him to have access to that.”
She went on to be questioned by Bash about whether this represented an about-face by MAGA-world, which had erupted with rage against Hillary Clinton in 2016 for housing State Department emails on a private server at her home during Clinton’s time as secretary of State.
“I remember a time when Republicans were very careful about and worried about the government, particularly unelected people, having access to personal data,” noted Bash.
Trump shouts out Brittany Mahomes in Fox News interview
The president gave a quick shoutout to Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, for being a Trump supporter.
“I watched this great quarterback who has, by the way, a phenomenal wife. She’s a MAGA fan, so I happen to love her. But she’s a great person,” Trump said.
Trump went on to say he would choose Kansas City as the predicted winner because of Patrick Mahomes’ performance.

Our thoughts are also with the 35 individuals injured during the attack whose lives were changed forever that fateful night, and our prayers will remain with them for continued strength, comfort, and healing.”
