Donald Trump took the stage in Butler, Pennsylvania, but mere minutes into the rally, he appeared to be struck by something, prompting him to duck to the ground and then be escorted into a black car by Secret Service.

Popping sounds that resembled gunshots reverberated, prompting people in the crowd to scream and duck.

After Secret Service stood on the stage, they announced the area was clear. Agents then grabbed Trump by the arms, hoisted him up to standing, and escorted him off the stage and into a vehicle.

It’s not immediately clear what he was shot with, but blood dripped across the former president’s face.

It appears his ear had been grazed.

His current condition is not immediately known.

The Independent has reached out to Trump campaign for more information.

Trump appears to have been struck by something in the middle of his rally

The rally came to a screeching halt after popping noises reverberated throughout the crowd and he put a hand behind his neck before quickly falling to the ground.

Secret service then popped up onto the stage, where Trump had just been speaking, and moments later escorted Trump off the stage.

‘Macho Man'

Trump’s campaign rally in western Pennsylvania is preparing for the former president’s entrance by blasting songs by the Village People, like ‘YMCA’ and ‘Macho Man.’

A sea of red-capped supporters are waiting for Trump to walk onto the stage. The rally was supposed to begin at 5pm, but at 6pm, it had yet to begin.

His return to the campaign trail comes days before the Republican national convention on Monday.

It also comes hours after Vice President Kamala Harris addressed a crowd of supporters across the state in Philadelphia.

Who is left on Trump’s VP shortlist?

Four names remain on the coveted shortlist to be Trump’s running mate.

“It’s like a highly sophisticated version of The Apprentice,” Trump said of his selection process on The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show on Friday on Friday.

“I’d love to do it at the convention, or just slightly before the convention, which would be — or just slightly before the convention, like Monday,” he added. The convention starts Monday in Milwaukee.

Here’s who remains on the list:

  • Senator Tim Scott
  • Senator Marco Rubio
  • Senator JD Vance
  • North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum

How would replacing Biden actually work?

Even some of Biden’s aides are reportedly starting to think it may be time to go, and have started to brainstorm ways to convince him to do so. The campaign is also reported to be conducting head-to-head polling between Trump and Harris.

This all comes after his disastrous debate on June 27 when Biden appeared confused and frail, made several gaffes and losing his train of thought.

Insiders have previously told The Independent that they believe there is “no question” Harris would receive the baton if Biden would reverse course and choose not to run in November. However, to date, Harris has remained steadfastly loyal to Biden’s bid.

But how would replacing Biden actually work?

Here’s the process as calls grow for him to pass the torch:

How would replacing Biden as the Democratic nominee actually work?

The clock is ticking for Biden to step aside as the party’s nominee will be officially chosen in just over a month’s time at the Democratic National Convention

‘Four more years!'

Trump “incites hate,” Harris said.

“There is so much at stake at this moment,” Harris said. “Last week we were again reminded of that fact,” referring to the Supreme Court’s immunity decision. “If the Supreme Court says the laws do not apply to Donald Trump...if poeple like Mike Pence are not around to stand up to him, our last line of defense is the ballot box.”

The crowd began chanting: “Four more years!”

“Trump’s advisers have created a 900-page blueprint for their agenda for a second term,” she said about Project 2025.

She laid into “Trump abortion bans,” and reminded the crowd that he bragged about picking the Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe.

Harris said: “one does not have to abandon their faith to agree that the govenrment should not be telling her what to do with her body.” She warned he will sign a federal abortion ban.

Harris takes the stage in Philadelphia

Vice president Kamala Harris , the first Asian American vice president in US history, took the stage at the Asian and Pacific Islander American Vote Presidential Town Hall in Philadelphia on Thursday afternoon.

Rep Judy Chu introduced Harris, calling her a “tremendous leader” and a “role model.”

“Today we are 115 days out form the election....Well this is the one. The most existential, consequential and important election of our lifetime. We always knew this election would be tough and the past few days have been a reminder that running for president is tough. And it should be.”

Biden is a “fighter,” his vice president said. “We will continue to fight.”

“In November, we will win,” she added.

Harris told the crowd: “President Biden and I fight for the American people. Donald Trump does not.”

GOP ramps up attacks against Kamala Harris after Biden’s disastrous debate performance

As the future of Joe Biden’s candidacy remains uncertain, Republicans have their sights set on another target - Vice President Kamala Harris.

Members of the president’s own party — donors, lawmakers and politically active celebrities — have joined in a chorus of calls for Biden to step aside. While the president himself has remained defiant, telling Michigan supporters on Friday: “I am running, and we’re going to win.”

Trump’s campaign reportedly does not want to face a candidate other than Biden. Still, Republicans seem to be preparing for Harris to rise to the top of the ticket. Post-debate, she has become the bullseye for Republicans’ sexist, racist attacks.
