Princess Kate will be able to attend the Wimbledon final this Sunday despite her recent step back from public duties, Kensington palace has confirmed.

Officials from the Wimbledon tennis tournament had previously said they were 'hopeful' Kate would be able to return to present trophies after Sunday's final. The princess, who carried out the duty in 2023, is known to be a tennis lover and even amateur player.

‘We’re hopeful that the Princess of Wales will be able to present the trophies as the Club’s patron, but her health and recovery is the priority,’ said All England Club chair Debbie Jevans.

The palace confirmed Kate was stepping back from her royal duties in March, after the princess released a surprise video on social media to share her cancer diagnosis.

She is now undergoing preventative treatment.Meanwhile, Prince William will fly to Berlin for the Euro 2024 final as England face off against Spain, the palace has confirmed.

He will be joined by Britain’s new prime minister, Sir Keir Starmer, as the men's team attempts to rectify their final stage knockout against Italy in 2020.

Harry and Meghan not welcome at Balmoral Summer event, ‘royal source’ suggests

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not been invited to join the rest of the royals at Balmoral for a key event this Summer, a source closed to the family has told The Express.

It comes as tensions remain high between Prince Harry and the royal family. The Spare author last saw his father King Charles in February after the monarch revealed his cancer diagnosis. The meeting allegedly lasted under an hour.

“Harry and Meghan will not be joining the rest of the Royal Family in August,” said the source. “The King is keen for it to be a happy family occasion which will see members of the Royal Family come together for just over a week to discuss plans for the future and to unwind.”

However, the unnamed source does suggest that King Charles will likely want to meet Harry separately at some point in the future. It is rumoured the monarch desires to see more of his grandchildren Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3.

The special rules for Wimbledon’s royal box

With Kate confirmed to be attending the Wimbledon 2024 final, she will undoubtedly be sat in the Royal Box to watch the decisive rematch between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.

This special seating area contains iconic wicker chairs, with 74 spaces preserved for celebrities and VIPs. It was first established in 1922, and comes with a strict set of rules.

Firstly, guest must be receive an invite from the Chairman of the All England Club. These will always be extended to members of the royal family, as well as heads of state, celebrities, and people from the world of tennis.

Unlike the rest of Wimbledon, patrons of the box must follow a formal dress code, with men recommended to wear a shirt and tie. Women must also dress the part but, crucially, must not wear a hat. This is so no one’s view is blocked!

All guests will also be invited to the Clubhouse at the end of the day for a high-profile lunch. Until recent times, rules also dicated that guests must bow before the members of the royal family, but this practice was scrapped in 2003.
