Lexus LC 500 sports coupe revealed: Brand pursues sportier image
Prices and UK arrival dates have yet to be announced

Boasting a 467bhp 5.0-litre V8, the dramatic new LC 500 is set to lead Lexus into a new, racier future.
Revealed at this week’s Detroit Motor Show, four years after it was previewed by the LF-LC concept, the performance coupe kicks off the premium Japanese brand’s bid to create a sportier image and further align itself with German competitors BMW and Mercedes.

It also heralds the arrival of the company’s new RWD platform, which brings new levels of rigidity and lightness thanks to utilising strong, high-tensile materials. The fitment of a 10-speed single-clutch auto transmission rather than the more common dual-clutch type enhances the weight savings. It helps power the car to a sub-4.5-second 0-60mph sprint.
Lexus uses enhanced handling to further forge a reputation for providing an entertaining drive. This comes courtesy of a highly tuned and responsive suspension set-up. The ride is claimed to strike a perfect balance between sporting and comfort, giving more of a sports-touring GT feel than that of a full-on racer.
Prices and UK arrival dates have yet to be announced, but Lexus dealers are gearing up to take deposits later this year.
