The Perfect Match

French wine is the perfect complement to many foods, from the simplicity of French bread to the gastronomic delights of modern cuisine. But when it comes to something spicy, it can be hard to find the right match. The wines from Alsace have an

intense fruity flavour and taste wonderfully dry, harmonising perfectly with Thai,

Chinese or Indian cuisine. Unlike most French wines, those from Alsace, in the

north-east corner of France, are generally named after the grape variety from which they are made. Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner, Muscat, Tokay Pinot Gris all produce white wines. Pinot Noir produces red wines. Gewurztraminer and Pinot Blanc complement dishes such as mild curry and Thai chicken. Riesling is perfect with all kinds of sea food. The soft Pinot Blanc makes a delicious accompaniment with lightly spiced Chinese. This week, we have five mixed cases of Alsace wines to win.
