Very British Problems Twitter feed to get TV series airing on Channel 4 this summer

Popular Twitter feed Very British Problems is set to become the first to be adapted for television.

Channel 4 has commissioned a series based on the account, which has already inspired a book with its humourous observations of British life.

Three hour-long episodes of the comedy will feature "some of Britain's best-loved famous faces talking about the crushing weirdness and awkwardness of life as a Brit", with Jonathan Ross, Ruth Jones, Jonny Vegas, Stephen Mangan and James Corden among those believed to have signed up.

Very British Problems is scheduled to air ater this summer, with production company Alaska promising "a warm, inclusive, funny show that gently unravels the complexities and awkwardness of the British psyche".

The New York Observer warns that TV shows based on Twitter feeds have failed somewhat drastically across the pond, with Justin Halpern's S**t My Dad Says amassing close to three million followers online but flopping on the box and AMC's Selfie getting the axe after just 13 episodes.
