Game of Thrones season 7 episode 5: How [spoiler twist] ties in with 'Jaime will kill Cersei' theory/prophecy

*Game of Thrones season 7 episode 5 spoilers ahead*

There was a pretty unexpected twist in this week's Game of Thrones episode, 'Eastwatch', as Cersei revealed to Jaime that she is pregnant with their child, the previous three having been either poisoned or driven to suicide.

This late in the day and with only eight episodes of the show left (two this season, six the next), Cersei's pregnancy wouldn't have been written into the story unless it has major plot importance.

It's unlikely that nine months will pass before the show wraps up, so it probably won't be the eventual child that affects the plot but Cersei's pregnancy itself. Enter the Valonqar prophecy.

For those who can't recall, the prophecy derives from the words spoken to a young Cersei about her future by a witch. After correctly predicting she will become queen and have three children who will all perish - as seen in the series - the book's text includes one extra prophecy: “And when your tears have drowned you, the Valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you.“

In High Valyrian language, 'Valonqar' means 'little brother'.

There was a potential allusion to this earlier in season 7, when Euron Greyjoy said to Cersei "you should try it, it feels wonderful," with regards to killing one's brother, and events feel like they're building up to Jaime having to make a choice between his noble but impudent brother or his hot but murderous sister.

If you were leaning towards Jaime saving Tyrion, Cersei's pregnancy might be bad news. Jaime might have been able to find the strength to put an end to Cersei, but his unborn child too?
