The dialogue can drag and director Fiona Buffini wastes some gags. But four actors juggle 30 roles on a beautifully playful, DIY set. The skulking gents (Simon Gregor and Mark Hadfield) lug their streetlight around, switching it on like a standard lamp. The murdered lady (Lisa Jackson) dashes about scene-shifting with the dagger still waggling in her spine.
When Robert Whitelock's Hannay escapes through a window, he exits - none too dashingly - taking the whole frame with him. As for the moorland chase, tiny shadow puppets race over silhouetted crags, crashing into stags. Highly inventive silliness. KB
